Louisa Chircop Australian, b. 1974

Overview

An esteemed, multidisciplinary Australian Maltese artist specialising in painting, Chircop is internationally recognised as a significant artist working with surrealist motifs and personal story. Delving into the female psyche, memories and lived experiences, she transcends through material experimentation and emotional resonation.

Awarded Artist-in-Residence in 2025 at MUŻA, (Malta National Museum of Art), Valletta, Chircop also held a solo exhibition at MUŻA in the same year. In 2026 she has been short listed for the prestigious Sidney Nolan Art Prize hosted by the Sidney Nolan Trust, The Rodd Herefordshire, UK, and is a finalist in the 2026 Adelaide Perry Prize for drawing. These latest honours add to an impressive list of recognition as a multiple award winner and finalist, and inclusion within distinguished public programs and exhibitions globally.
