Sue is a locally based oil painter from Gladesville, Sydney. Her Stranger at the Door exhibition explores worlds within worlds, environments that aren't always what they seem. The title, "Stranger at the Door", comes from the painting of the same name, created in 2020 when anxieties were high, fearing our neighbours or even the groceries left at the door. MacLeod-Beere sets out to capture the unsettling presence in the everyday within moody canvases, mostly executed `en plein air'.

"I feel I'm on a treasure hunt with some subjects as they slowly reveal intriguing depths that I hadn't seen fully at first."

Her Sydney scenes include the striking buildings in Callan Park, Rozelle towards the water's edge of Looking Glass Bay, Gladesville and Kissing Point, Putney. A finalist in the Mosman Art Prize and the Ravenswood Women's Art Prize, her painting "Stranger at the Door", won the 2020 CommunARTy Prize, Hunters Hill. Two times winner of the Nora Heysen Award, Sue has also been selected twice as a finalist in the Gallipoli Art Prize.
