BCFA Project: Objects of Attention
9–22 June 2026
Curated by Em A Busby
Brenda Colahan Fine Arts is pleased to present BCFA Project: Objects of Attention, a group exhibition curated by Em A Busby featuring emerging Sydney-based artists working across painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and printmaking.
Taking its title from the notion of object-based attention, the exhibition considers how certain forms emerge from the visual field and become the focus of perception. Across diverse practices, the works assembled here share a capacity to command attention, drawing viewers through materiality, scale, texture, gesture, and form.
Attention confers significance. What we choose to look at, and how long we spend looking, shapes our experience of the world. Rather than offering immediate resolution, these works unfold gradually, rewarding sustained observation and inviting multiple ways of seeing. Together, they propose attention not as a passive act, but as an active and ongoing process of engagement.
Presented between the gallery's major exhibition program, Objects of Attention marks the inaugural BCFA Project, a new initiative supporting emerging contemporary artists and curatorial practices within a commercial gallery context.
